Selda Sahin and Derek Gregor are an NYC-based writing team for the stage and screen. They wrote the original songs for the feature film AMERICAN REJECT (feat. Keala Settle, Angelica Hale, Annaleigh Ashford, Juvenile, Billy Ray Cyrus). Their musical MODERN following a group of Amish teens on Rumspringa was selected for both the “Grow A Show” ASCAP Workshop and the Stephen Schwartz ASCAP Workshop and is receiving further development. Their musical PARTICLE (developed w/Autumn Reeser) was selected for Michigan State University’s New Musical Laboratory and will receive a workshop at Missouri State University in 2025. Their award-winning film GRIND (Anthony Rapp and Claire Coffee) is available for streaming. Derek’s musical UNLOCK’D had an extended Off-Broadway run at the Duke Theatre. Selda received a commission from The Atlanta Opera for a new work (STEELE ROOTS) to be premiered in their 2025 season.
As guest artists, Selda and Derek have led workshops at NYU, Yale, University of Michigan, Princeton, UC Irvine, The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts among others. Derek is a recipient of a Richard Rogers award, a John Wallowitch award and a MAC award. Selda was selected for both the ASCAP Songwriters Collective, the ASCAP Country Music Workshop and holds an Emmy for her work with director Lonny Price on “PASSION: Live at Lincoln Center”.
